ARENAL VOLCANO Enjoy a guided drive through an extraordinary pastoral landscape over the Tilaran Mountain Range and quaint villages. Our first stop will be at Las Pumas Rescue Shelter, here you would have the opportunity to see 6 species of felines that live in Costa Rica all endangered, besides other species of mammals and birds. The tour will continue towards the Arenal's Lake where would have time for a delicious typical lunch. Right after lunch we would drive for about 40 minutes and arrive at the base of the volcano to start with the activity you have selected .Once the activity is finished we would take you to the hot springs on a perfect time to enjoy its curative and relaxing pools at the bottom of the impressive volcano. We will stay at the volcano area until dark hoping to see its lava coming down. Arenal Volcano has remained active since 1968, producing steam columns, rumbling explosions and a constant shower of red lava . Activities options: Option A: Rain Forest Hike : Don't miss the opportunity to hike in the rain forest at the base of the volcano to admire its flora and fauna. Some of the birds and mammals you may see during this walk are: toucans, Trogon, parrots, Crested Guan, snakes, coatis, White Faced Monkeys, Howler Monkeys and many other species. Duration:15 hrs Tour includes: a/c transportation, bilingual guide, Las Pumas Wildlife Center stop, lunch, rain forest hike, hot springs entrance and dinner. Recommended for people in average physical condition Option B: Hanging Bridges Hike The hanging bridges is a tourist project consisting of paths and bridges built with a view to maintain the outmost harmony between man made structure and nature. Covering an area of approximately 250 hectares of primary rain forest, with an impressive view of the Arenal Volcano.. There are eight (8) fixed bridges, ranging in length between 8 to 22 meters and six (6) hanging bridges between 48 and 98 meters long. The trails,covering a distance of about 3.1 kilometers are right in the rain forest. As you walk will be able to appreciate a great diversity of flowers and wildlife. What to bring: Long pants, t-shirt, extra change of dry clothes, bathing suit, bug spray, sunscreen, binoculars, hat, raincoat and cameras. Option C: Aerial Tram & Sky Trek
The Sky Tram is a high technology cableway that goes through the surrounds of the Arenal Volcano, with great views of the Arenal lake and surroundings. The tour starts with a 30 minutes ride on the Sky Tram cableway, where you can have a different perspective of the flora and fauna join by a Costa Rican expert guide. The Sky tram ends on a wide observation platform on the highest point of the Arenal Reserve, where you can seat down on comfortable chairs to enjoy the view. You may stay as long as you wish on the platform admiring the volcano, the lake, the mountain range and rain forest. The sky tram is a full age tour, even for people with some disability, thanks to the space of our gondolas. From the observation platform you have two options to continue: 1- A guided walk through one of the paths to observe wild life . This walk last about 30 minutes and gets back to the observation platform , from here you will get on the Aerial Tram to finish the activity. 2- Sky Trek ( Zip Lines ) this a great opportunity for those how are looking for more adventure. There are 8 cross-sectional cables that together have a total length of 2.8 Km. with a distance from 30 to 760 meters, and from 20 to 200 meters of height. The cables go through the trees and also above them this is a opportunity to spot the beauty of the rain forest and the views of the volcano , if the weather allows it.
